Role Overview:
As a Care Assistant – Dementia, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to individuals living with dementia. Your compassionate nature, coupled with your commitment to improving the quality of life for our service users, will make a meaningful impact on their well-being. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with individuals and their families, creating a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters dignity and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide person-centered care and support to individuals living with dementia, respecting their dignity, preferences, and independence.
- Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Foster meaningful interactions with individuals, engaging in activities that promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individual care plans.
- Administer medication in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
- Support individuals with mobility and physical exercises as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided and any observations.
- Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, creating a positive and nurturing environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in providing care to individuals with dementia is preferred.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
- Empathetic, patient, and compassionate approach to care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high-quality care.
- Ability to work well within a team and independently.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle is advantageous.
